Antique Country House Squirrel Cage with Original Wire Run & Nest Box An unusual antique Country House squirrel cage, handmade from wood and retaining its original wire-fronted run, nesting chamber, sliding access hatch and detachable side compartment. Handmade from timber and iron, this fascinating survivor offers a rare glimpse into rural and estate life during the late Victorian and early twentieth century period. The cage features an enclosed nesting area to the rear, a wire-fronted exercise run, a sliding inspection hatch and a detachable side box, believed to have been used for feeding or access. A wonderful decorative piece with plenty of character, displaying the honest wear, patina and craftsmanship associated with years of use. Equally suited to a country house interior, folk art collection, museum display or film prop setting. ConditionOriginal antique condition with expected wear, marks, knocks, age-related imperfections and surface rust to the wire run and metal fittings. Retains excellent colour and patina.
