Antique Black Lace Hand Fan with Painted Butterflies Edwardian PeriodA decorative antique hand fan with black silk gauze leaf, fine embroidered net lace border and hand-painted butterflies with white floral sprays. The fan has black stained wooden sticks and guards, original rivet, loop and tassel, and opens to a generous full display. The butterfly decoration shows gilt and coloured detailing typical of late Victorian to Edwardian fans made for evening or formal wear. Today it works equally well as an interior decorative object, wall display piece or collectible costume accessory. ConditionVery good antique condition. The silk gauze and embroidered net lace are intact with no fraying or thinning. Painted decoration remains clear and attractive.
