Club: Germany NT Year: 2004/06 Brand: Adidas Jersey Type: Home Size: L Player Name: Michael Ballack 13 Chest length (cm): 60Shirt length (cm): 76 History: The 2004 Euros was a forgettable year for Die Manneschaft as the Germans crashed out of the competition in Group D that consists Netherlands, Ceczh Republic & Latvia. Rarely has a German team going into a major tournament with few prospects of success from fans, despite coming into the tournament as the finalist of the previous World Cup. Coached by Rudi Voller, the Germans breezed through an easy Euro qualification group while putting in a handful of lackluster displays. But the writings was on the wall in the built up to the competition as Michael Ballack and gang lost in friendlies against France & Italy, the worst defeat in the friendly was a 5-1 humiliation against Romania. Germany headed into the Euros with an inexperienced team with an aging core that brought more uncertainties than promise, failing to win a single group game. The failures of Euro 2004 left Deutscher Fußball-Bund looking toward a new direction to overhaul the grassroots/academy setup in the Bundesliga clubs with a core footballing philosophy to build a new generational group of talents that would serve Die Manneschaft at future tournaments, with the fruits of its success in the 2014 World Cup.
