Club: Manchester United Year: 2002/04 Brand: Nike Jersey Type: Goalkeeper Away Size: L Player Name: Fabien Barthez 1 Chest length (cm): 57 Shirt length (cm): 80 Condition: 8/10 History: Fabien Barthez joined Manchester United in 2000 as a high-profile replacement for Peter Schmeichel, arriving after winning the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 with France. His debut season was impressive, showcasing sharp reflexes, confidence with the ball, and penalty-saving ability, helping United win the 2000/01 Premier League title. However, over time, his eccentric and risky style began to cost the team in key matches, leading to inconsistent performances. Despite a second league title in 2002/03, doubts grew over his reliability. Barthez was eventually replaced by Tim Howard and left the club in 2004. He remains a memorable, if divisive, figure. Manchester United’s goalkeeper away jersey from 2002 to 2004 was a distinctive and modern design. Worn by the likes of Fabien Barthez, Roy Carroll, and later Tim Howard, the jersey was primarily light grey with black accents, featuring black trim on the collar and sleeves. It had a minimalist V-neck design, with thin mesh panels for ventilation. The shirt prominently displayed the Vodafone sponsor in black, and the Nike swoosh along with the Manchester United crest on the chest. Functional and striking, it stood out as a sleek alternative to the black home goalkeeper kit. The short sleeve version was widely associated to Fabien Barthez, in an era where padded long sleeves were the norm of goalkeeper uniform. Note: These jerseys are authentic. However, due to their age—whether never worn with tags or previously used—they may exhibit minor imperfections such as pulls, bobbles, or small stains.
